Organisers of the award winning Llanelli Half Marathon reach new heights as they announce local company; Risk Kitchen as headline sponsor for 2020.  Being a relatively new company; Risk Kitchen (based in Llanelli) is run by husband and wife team Jessica Tyrrell and Gary Evans.  Established in January 2017, they went onto set up offices in August last year after becoming a directly authorised brokerage.  It’s clear to see that even though the company is new, it has become quite a player in the Insurance Broker market.  Both Gary and Jessica are qualified chartered insurance brokers and between them have 32 years experience in the field.

Jessica originally from Pembrokeshire and mum of two took the brave step to set up Risk Kitchen with husband Gary, after working in the industry since leaving university.  She said:

“It was a big decision to take but an easy one, after experiencing some difficult circumstances personally, I felt my life took a turning point and it was at that moment, I decided that this is what we needed to do.  I took inspiration from my dad who also ran his own brokerage and had the belief in me to go it alone, so that’s what we did.

“Having worked alongside the team at Front Runner Events on their race in Swansea I had a good working relationship already established.  I like the ethos of the team, how they manage their events, and the relationships they have with local businesses.  It has been my aim to be able to put something back into the community since we started up Risk Kitchen, so it is a great pleasure to become title sponsor of the Risk Kitchen Llanelli Half Marathon.”

The Llanellli Half Marathon is a well-established race, which was taken over by Front Runner Events in 2016 with the inaugural event organised by the company the following year.  Front Runner Events also organise the JCP Swansea Half Marathon, Great Welsh Marathon and Half Marathon, and most recently becoming the event delivery partner for the Kidney Wales Cardiff 10K.  Starting as a very small team of two; Front Runner Events has great similarities to Risk Kitchen, which help drive the businesses to successfully work closely together.

David Martin-Jewell, director of Front Runner Events said:

“We are extremely proud to be working with Risk Kitchen and I am thrilled to have them as our title partner for the Llanelli Half Marathon.  I have worked with Jess for a number of years and there is a great synergy between Risk Kitchen and Front Runner Events.  They are a local SME with firm roots with the region, serving clients from the area and beyond.  We hope that our relationship will continue for many years to come, and help raise the profile of the company nationwide.”

Risk Kitchen aims to re-write insurance broking, making it a recipe for success for businesses wherever they are located.  The company currently works with over 2,000 businesses locally and nationwide providing insurance for anything from public liability to professionally indemnity insurance and everything in between.

Gary Evans, co-founder of Risk Kitchen stated:

“We are a business-to-business insurance broker; working with a variety of clients ranging from sole traders, up to multi-national company’s.  It’s important to us that every client is treated the same.  Our company ethos is centered around family values which is why we named it Risk Kitchen, and believe this comes across to our clients.  We value every client we work with, and as a result, we have achieved a ninety-eight percent retention rate on our client base.”

The Risk Kitchen Llanelli Half Marathon is also not shy of winning accolades.  Not only has the race doubled in size since Front Runner Events took over, reaching almost 3,000 entrants this year.  The event has also won Best Half Marathon (for less than 5,000 participants) in 2018 at the UK Running Awards.  It seems that the partnership between the Llanelli Half Marathon and Risk Kitchen will also be a recipe for success!
