With just over FOUR weeks to go until the 2017 Llanelli Half Marathon, there is still a chance for supporters or volunteers to be a part of race day. Anyone can participate in this great event – and what’s more is you don’t even have to be a runner!
The organisers of the race, which takes place on 12th March 2017, starting and finishing at Parc Y Scarlets, are calling out for volunteers to help on race day. There are lots of people needed to make the event a success and the role of a volunteer can include duties such as: general race day support, set up and break down, start / finish volunteers; hydration & nutrition station support, as well as marking out directions or cheering the runners on.
David Martin-Jewell, Managing Director of Front Runner Events Limited said:
“Working as a volunteer is a brilliant way to be part of the race experience: all you need is 4-6 hours to spare on the day, lots of enthusiasm and a positive attitude! We would welcome local community groups and clubs to come forward who can contribute during the day. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt to be worn on the day, plus a packed lunch and refreshments for the duration of the event.”
With just over four weeks until race day, final preparations are under way for this year’s Llanelli Half Marathon. It is a very exciting time for organisers and runners alike as this will be the first event in West Wales for the team at Front Runner Events. The team behind the company also organise the JCP Swansea Half Marathon, which takes place on the 25th June 2017, and has grown into a hugely successful event with many supporters and volunteers.
Tash Smith, Volunteer co-ordinator at Front Runner Events Limited added:
“We are delighted to be growing our trusted team of volunteers. Anyone signing up now will be joining a fantastic group of volunteers who have a keen interest in the community and specifically in sport. Many volunteers report back to us from our other events that they love being part of a team and helping to make a difference to everyone who takes part. Those who wish to help out and experience the wonderful atmosphere of race day can do so by registering online or groups can get in touch us at our offices on 01554 253116.”
